Louisiana-Lafayette spoiled Kennesaw State's first-ever FBS home game in emphatic fashion, rolling to a 34-10 victory behind a powerful rushing attack. Elijah Davis and Zylan Perry spearheaded the ground game for the Ragin' Cajuns, combining for three touchdowns and over 180 rushing yards, leaving the Owls unable to keep pace.
Davis found the end zone twice on short runs, including a 1-yard plunge late in the second quarter to cap off an 80-yard drive. He added another score with a minute left in the third, sealing the game with a second 1-yard run that stretched the lead to 34-7. Perry, not to be outdone, electrified with a 19-yard touchdown scamper, part of his team-leading 104 rushing yards.
Quarterback Ben Wooldridge added to the offensive onslaught, throwing for 184 yards and a 3-yard touchdown to Robert Williams early in the third. The Ragin' Cajuns (2-0) now sit undefeated after an impressive season-opening win against Grambling, continuing their hot start with a second dominant performance.
Kennesaw State, the newest addition to Conference USA, couldn’t get much going in their FBS debut on home turf. A late field goal made the scoreline more respectable, but the night belonged to Louisiana-Lafayette, who heads into their bye week brimming with confidence ahead of a matchup with Tulane.
With three of their four touchdowns coming from inside the 3-yard line, the Ragin' Cajuns proved that when it comes to grinding out points, they are more than up to the task.
