Georgia State University (GSU) Football has kicked off their summer workouts under Head Coach Dell McGee with a significant addition to their 2024 roster: Texas A&M transfer cornerback Sam McCall. This week, McCall, a highly regarded 6'1", 185-pound defensive back, joined the Panthers, adding depth and talent to the team ahead of the upcoming season.

McCall's collegiate journey began with a strong 2023 season at Texas A&M, where he played in 11 games and recorded six tackles along with a pass breakup in reserve roles. His contributions included a notable performance against Ole Miss, where he registered five tackles in his first career start.

Before transferring to Texas A&M, McCall played at Florida State in 2022. At FSU, he notched five tackles and returned eight kickoffs for 142 yards across eight games. His high school career was distinguished by his impressive athleticism and versatility at Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, Florida. A four-star recruit, McCall was ranked as a top 50 national prospect and the 6th best in Florida for the 2022 class by the 247Sports Composite. Additionally, his multi-sport background includes achievements in football, basketball, and track, with personal bests of 11.10 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.69 seconds in the 200 meters.

McCall is now the highest-ranked player to ever join the GSU Football program and represents the 33rd addition via the transfer portal this cycle. His arrival at GSU signifies a major boost as the team prepares for their season opener against Georgia Tech on August 31st at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Panthers' summer workouts will continue throughout the week as they gear up for the highly anticipated Downtown versus Midtown series, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
