The Eagles set the tone early in the game when running back David Mbadinga broke free for a 29-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, marking the first points of the contest. From that moment on, Georgia Southern (5-2, 3-0 Sun Belt) established a commanding presence, never relinquishing their lead.
French showcased his passing prowess with two touchdown throws before halftime. He connected with Derwin Burgess Jr. for a 5-yard score, followed by a 15-yard pass to Tyler Fromm, sending the Eagles into the locker room with a comfortable 21-0 advantage.
However, the momentum shifted briefly in the third quarter when French's pass was intercepted by DJ Barksdale, who returned it 11 yards for a touchdown, putting the Dukes on the scoreboard.
